  This system is designed for single gates, if you have two small wooden gates you would be wise to fit the traditional automatic gate systems, if however the twin gates are large, but only occasionally both being needed to open, you can lock one into place and fit the AgriWheel to the other gate, this has been done quite often.

  Yes, using AgriWheel you can open the gate as wide as it will physically go.

I am thinking of fitting the system myself, I have basic practical skills, is the system easy to fit?

  Yes, the system is easy to fit, and you do not have to work with mains AC power supplies.

I have no knowledge of mains electricity, would it be dangerous for me to fit a system?

  This is a fully low voltage DC system, the only mains supply required if you are using mains to charge the system is a 13-amp standard wall socket. No regulations to worry about.

Our ground is not level, will AgriWheel work in these conditions?

  Yes, the AgriWheel will operate with a ground rise and fall of 12 inches.

My drive surface is gravel; will the machine work on this?

  The AgriWheel will operate on gravel, in some applications with very deep gravel you may have to put a small concrete run under the gravel, but this is very occasional.

  Yes, the AgriWheel locks when it is closed.

  Depending on which battery you have chosen, and how may switching accessories you have on the gate this will vary, but anywhere between 12 to 100 gate operations.

  AgriWheel has been fitted to gates in the past that two men cannot pick up, but the gate must swing freely on its hinges.

  AgriWheel has operated gates up to 28 feet in length, but the gate must swing freely on its own hinges.

We have a gate working on a rising hinge, will this system work?

  Yes, this is probably the only gate system available that can work using a rising hinge.

How easy is it to program the electronics on this system, some systems are timely and confusing?

  AgriWheel is very easy to program using two buttons built onto the board, full instructions are supplied with the machine and we are at the end of a telephone for advice.

  Yes, if you only want remote control operation, this is no problem.

Can we turn of some switching methods off at night, or when we are away, but still have our remote controls working?

  Yes, we can supply you with a timer or switch and simple instructions to isolate all accessories except you remote controls, this is a very popular method keeping things easy.

  Yes, the AgriWheel has an adjustable slow down in both directions for the motor.

  Yes, AgriWheel has a unique setting to allow you to program the gate for pedestrian use only, this is ideal for postman etc.

If the gate has partially opened, could someone push the gate open?

  Yes, the pedestrian setting is designed for postman, deliveries etc, someone could then push the gate open, but unlike other traditional systems it will not ruin the mechanism.

  Solar power is the best and cheapest solution.

  Depending on how many times per day you want to operate the gate and how many accessories you have attached to the gate, will depend on the size of solar panel and battery is best for you. Please see our guide within this website or contact us for advice.

  You can move the solar panel up to 100 metres away from the gate if required, but the size of cable needed between the two will increase.

In what direction would we point a solar panel?

  The solar panels are best facing due South; this often means taking the solar panel away from the gate to find a suitable location.

Does solar power really work in the dull conditions of the UK?

• Answer 9.
  Solar panels do work in dull-old-UK, they require day light and not sunlight, the only time they will not charge at all is in fog and darkness.

What time of year is the hardest for the solar power to work in the UK?

• Answer 10.
  Without doubt, December and January are the worst months in the UK as this is the time of year with the least daylight hours, some customers specify their size of battery and solar power for this time of year, some customers accept that they may have to charge the battery a couple of times at this time of year, it is all about a balance between operational use and initial costs.
